Acoustic panels

How to choose this product

acoustic panel

An acoustic panel is used to reduce noise or redirect sound. It may be suspended from a ceiling, attached to the walls, installed within cavity walls or under roofing, among other systems. On ArchiExpo, these items are categorized by properties such as material or attachment method.

Applications

The noise may originate within the space, an adjacent room or outside the structure. The level and type of sound absorption needed will depend on the location of the space, user requirements and local regulations. A house located near a busy highway needs better acoustic insulation than one in a quiet neighborhood.

Technologies

These panels are made from fiberglass, rock wool or even environmentally neutral or recycled materials including wood, rubber or wool.

How to choose

Consider the degree and type of sound absorption required. Panel type should be suitable for the intended application. Those for concert halls may need to absorb, diffuse or reflect the sound. Calculate the number of panels needed and decide whether their style will complement or contrast with the decor.

Determine method and ease of installation, which may depend on the details of wall or ceiling placement. Consider maintenance needs and verify compliance with local regulations.
