The new generation: POROTHERM flat clay block
- Systematic construction: The heat optimised POROTHERM clay blocks are ground flat on both sides in a computer-controlled process. Bricklaying is precise, simple and quick. The use of just 1 mm special mortar ensures optimal thermal insulation and minimal damp; the basic building is virtually dry and ready to move into earlier.
- Quick and simple use: The special mortar is applied with a roller; afterwards, the flat clay blocks are simply placed onto each other one by one. In addition to quick handling and the rapid progress of construction, the mortar allows up to 10,000 litres of wet mortar to be saved on an average single-family house, thereby reducing the humidity in the brickwork.
- Precise and clean brickwork: Using the POROTHERM flat clay block system for all external and internal walls allows visually perfect, clean and stainless brickwork to be erected. A basic flat clay block construction has a high-quality appearance, even from a distance.

POROTHERM brick ceilings
Brick ceilings - 6 walls of brick
Brick ceilings create the ideal conditions for a healthy and comfortable room climate, whereby solid brick ceilings and floors are particularly well suited for single family homes.
Brick ceilings offer many advantages:
- simple, quick, economic and safe to use; uniform plastering base of walls and ceiling
- healthy and comfortable indoor climate thanks to an optimal storage capacity
- favourable biological construction properties thanks to the low content of concrete and reinforcement
- highest flexibility in planning and use thanks to the simple system components of "load-bearing beams and inlay bricks"
|
|
POROTHERM - load bearing and non load bearing inner walls
The ideal combination of optimal fire and sound protection as well as high thermal insulation
Advantages of load-bearing internal walls made from POROTHERM clay blocks
- uniform plastering base
- high level of fire, sound and heat protection
- simple and safe fixing options
- high static safety
Advantages of non load-bearing walls made from POROTHERM clay blocks
- uniform plastering base across the entire basic construction (external and internal walls)
- high level of fire protection (F90 with a wall thickness starting at just 8 cm)

POROTHERM clay blocks for exterior walls
There are four variants for external walls made of clay blocks
The monolithic external wall
consists of just one wall construction material (other than plaster and mortar). Here, the POROTHORM clay block fulfils the requirements for thermal insulation, sound insulation, fire protection and static as well as ensuring a pleasant indoor climate.
The cavity wall with facing bricks
This type of cavity wall is one of the most important external wall constructions in many European countries.
The logical separation of the external wall by function into:
-a load-bearing clay block wall
-a thermal insulation layer incl. back ventilation
-a façade made from facing bricks
allows the outstanding properties of the load-bearing clay block wall and the facing bricks to be fully exploited.
The cavity wall with a plaster façade
In this type of cavity wall construction, the façade is not made of facing bricks, but of plastered 10 or 12 cm POROTHERM clay block.
The external wall with additional thermal insulation
An additional layer of thermal insulation is applied externally to a load-bearing POROTHERM clay block wall. In a construction with additional heat insulation, the POROTHERM clay block takes over not only the static functions, but also those of sound insulation and heat storage.

The acoustic brick offers all its talent for the realization of the partition-walls of doubling or distribution.
An unequalled esthetics with an acoustic perforated face and a smooth face of facing.

These bricks can be used as an internal or external wall cladding for bricks or concrete surfaces. For bearing walls, jambs, pillars, lintels, clad partitions.

Pale Yellow, Antique Rose, Red, Shaded and Waved: these are the colours of the Pica facing brick. Following a 50-year-old tradition, Pica produces over 20 types of facing brick in 4 colours, 6 finishes and 4 formats. Colours: natural or pigmented. Finishes: Plain, Smooth Sand-faced, Sand-faced, Rusticated or Coarse Sand-faced and Waved. Formats: the widest range on the market. The facing brick range is completed by extruded pieces: Listellos, Slip Bricks, and Corner Slip Bricks, essential complements. The Pica Facing Brick meets the highest quality demands (thermal inertia, immunity to weather conditions, sound insulation and mechanical resistance); it is easy to lay, thanks to the chamfer along each edge, that not only ensures a heightened aesthetic effect, but also preserves the brick from any damage caused in transit and handling on site.

Versatile and ductile, in harmony with its surroundings. It has always characterised the living architecture behind the more lasting homes and monuments. Its shading softens the contrast between light and shadow, in a dialogue with every colour range present.

In this instance, we cannot talk of just single bricks. The Pica Mura Romane range can in fact be better defined as a finish made up of bricks of different colours, cleverly mixed together in different quantities and calculated according to the overall effect required. The result is a %u201Ccolour-dashed%u201D texture that confers overall attractiveness.

From the dawning of civilisation right up to modern times, the countryside has been adorned with examples of art and building expertise, all based on the brick as their fundamental element. Architectural masterpieces of unalterable beauty, of extraordinary strength and complexity have challenged time and the elements. The Antiche Mura brick reflects and perseveres in this uninterrupted tradition, being made through the use of a special aging system patented by Pica. Inspired by the Roman %u201Copus incertum%u201D, this product creates very singular surfaces due to the diversified and yet harmonious union of shapes and colours. Whole, half and quarter bricks, coloured in antique rose, red, yellow and dark brown, are skilfully blended together to create each time an original weave with a variety of attractive chromatic suggestions.

Handmade terracotta bricks lightly sanded on the outside or washed, slightly irregular, available in red, pink or brown, in all sizes and over 500 shapes and profiles.
Filling bricks, in all sizes, complete with a vast range of sub-sizes to enable coverage where there isn't the space or need for a whole element.
Handmade terracotta tiles available in square, rectangular, hexagonal and octagonal formats, sanded, honed or washed according to traditional production processes, suitable for country-style or classic paving, indoors and out. Our longer rectangular formats can be used to create false ceilings supported by a wooden framework of beams, providing valid thermal insulation as well as a warm, rustic appearance.
Flat blocks, particularly long elements for cornices, sometimes with dripstones to complete overhanging cornices and anchor the profile obtained to the masonry.
Round bricks with different diameters, ranging from small to large, for columns, circular section walls, towers or wells, with different capitals in the various diameters.
Arch segments and wedges to create arches, portholes, arched vaults. Small and large roof tiles and ridge tiles to cover roofs, split tiles for domes where the roof slopes so much that standard tiles cannot be laid.

UNCHANGED BY THE PASSING TIME
The behaviour of Klinker Greco facing brick in the face of the problems generally suffered by traditional ceramics is unbeatable:
Norms for the correct use of klinker Greco.
We can only give two pieces of advice:
- Do not wet the bricks before placement, thanks to its low suction, for the agility of the construction and correct setting of the mortar, it is not necessary as in other traditional ceramics to maintain it in water.
- Mix bricks of two or therr pallets to archieve a harmonic effect for the facade, as a variety of tones sets off the beaty of the product.
