Convivium is open living space, a kitchen as an organised area, where solutions are the outcome of their location. Storage, oven and washing areas can be concentrated in an adjacent yet separate zone: the "Closet", a closed walk-in cabin that is made to fit and helps to organise not only activity in the house, but also its architectonic layout. And where the kitchen is the centre of the home, the island, freed from its service functions, becomes the true centre for rapport between the cook and the others: a wooden dining table is integrated with the island where food preparation and cooking takes place, in concert with the ritual of dining and entertaining. Socialising opens up to include cooking and vice versa, in a continual interlacing of relationships.
