Casement windows are hinged at the side. They usually opens inward and can be found in single or paired configurations. Wood, PVC, aluminum or composite materials are used to make the casements.
Such windows are found most often in residential structures. Security regulations in most countries limit their use in tall buildings to reduce the risk of falls.
It should be remembered that casement windows require substantial space when opening or closing. Hinge strength is an important factor.
