For centuries travellers on their way from Porto to Braga have stopped off at Vila Nova de Famalição to sample the culinary delights of the Iris restaurant. Ferran Estela discovered the model for this timeless chair there and resolved to rescue its charming design from oblivion.
Estela is always receptive to new ideas and is deeply curious about objects, their purpose and the way they are made. A trip to Portugal turned up a wonderful find: the chair which was to provide the inspiration of his Iris design.
Iris is an easy chair with a wooden upholstered frame and wood trimmings along the edges of its arms. The facings not only contrast attractively with the upholstery but also provide a hard-wearing piece of furniture designed to last a lifetime. Deep and narrow with a small back, straight front legs and curved back legs, this design will grace any room. |
