Lisca is a lamp system composed of fluorescent tubes, which has both technical characteristics and decorative qualities. This lamp is a plastic naked optics; it can be used in a variety of ways, and to provide various types of visual comfort. The colour and screen-printed elements on the side of the translucent/coloured version soften the direct and diffused light; it can therefore be used to decorate and personalise any room. The chrome version is a dark light optics, which makes it particularly indicated for computer rooms.Being clicked on an aluminium extruded section, the body of the lamp is easy to remove and clean, and it is easy to change the light bulb. Lisca is a modular lamp; it is possible to use one single module, or to assemble them in order to create a continuous luminous line. Lisca won a 2005 "iF product design award".

Ito's architecture projects are in pursuit of the boundaries between what's real and what's virtual: they are light, flexible, and dematerialised. There is something immaterial about lamps as well: light itself. They are objects in which the luminous performance and the shape of the device itself, the material and light must be astutely balanced. Cloud is made of 5 thin acrylic sheets, piled one on top of the other, and cut in an amoebic shape. The holes in the sheets create an empty space, which is where the luminous source is hosted. Cloud is a light suspension lamp, both physically and visually. The shape of the sheets, their stratification, and the discontinuity of the material in the concentric empty spaces evoke the transparency, immateriality and permanently changing aspect of clouds: it is a pursuit for a new model of "fluid" physicality.

Lampion was inspired by coloured paper lanterns and are wonderfully festive, for both exteriors and interiors. It can be hung from the branches of a tree, from a wall - by using the transparent plastic supports - or simply placed on the ground or table. The exterior version comes with a neoprene mains cable and both models use bulbs to provide excellent light with energy savings.

There is no hiding the fact that Jørn Utzon had his renowned Sydney Opera House in mind when he developed the Opera pendant. And just as well, since this lamp is as unique in many ways as the architecture of the impressive landmark of Sydney harbour. Utzon's goal was to create a pendant that utilises the multi-shade principle in new ways. He has chosen non-circular shades that create an asymmetrical impression, with upward illumination in several directions. This asymmetry ensures that the light is spread perfectly, whether the lamp is hung above a table or in an open walkway.

Design by Kurt Nørregaard based on sketches by Poul Henningsen. LP Centrum provides high-ceiling spaces with glare-free and indirect lighting. An integral aspect of the design, the 10 shades are designed according to the mathematic curve lituus. The philosophy behind the luminaire is to provide light for spaces, horizontally and vertically alike
|
|
|
Emits glare-free lighting to large rooms via its innovative yet simplistic form - Shades allow ample light into a space. - Hair thin aluminum wires hold the shades perfectly horizontal, while creating the illusion of a floating luminaire - Light source is housed in the cone and is not visible from any angle - Injection-molded shades form a beautiful shape and the matte finishing of the upper side highlights the beauty of texture

“The early sketches for the Discocó date from 1997, but, at that time, I was
not clear as to how to bring the idea to fruition. In the intervening period, I had gone back to them a few times, before finally coming up with the most suitable technology and manufacturing process. The association of ideas is what makes the human brain work; as a result, I like to resort to the collective consciousness when designing. The lamps of Poul Henningsen, the ‘Fun DM’ collection by Verner Panton and the ‘Porca Miseria’ light from Ingo Maurer were touchstones for the design. We created the notion of a light source surrounded by reflectingdiffusing components and the idea of the screening of the light itself by using opaque discs of moulded ABS and injection moulded aluminium rods. As a result, the finish is flawless and the assembly screw free.”

This lamp will move you.
Blade offers almost infinite possibilities to illuminate a room. One lamp - fourteen possible variations. Give one room fourteen different looks. It takes just a few moves to rearrange the three bowl-shaped shades into a new position. In the starting position all three shades form a circular shape with a diameter of approximately one meter. As they are fanned out, the lamp gradually changes into a propeller-shape that can be extended to a diameter of over two meters before the shades converge in the form of an organic triangle in the final position. - That's Blade.

Glow
Design Enrico Franzolini
Vicente Garcia Jimenez 2005
Produzione 2005
The starting point for the design of this group of lamps, created by Enrico Franzolini and Vicente Garcia Jimenez, was the aesthetic expression of light splintering off titanium walls. Its inspiration stems from the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. The group comprises both floor and pendant versions. The lampshade comes in different versions: semi-gloss painted metal in a choice of red (RAL 3003), white or the new black finish; transparent gloss painted and natural satin finish aluminium; matt transparent painted burnished and brushed brass. For the floor versions, both the stem and base can be made from polished chromed steel or painted in a semi-gloss anthracite colour or red. Lamps with a white shade are teamed with a polished chrome stem and base, whilst an anthracite colour is used with the other finishes. Pendants can be combined in horizontal or vertical modules. In the horizontal version, between 1 and 4 light fittings can be attached to a polished chromed steel bar. The vertical version instead features a double polished chromed steel bar designed to accommodate 2 or 3 light fittings. Both floor and pendant versions with a single light fitting come with a 250W halogen bulb (E27 base in the 230V version, E26 base for the 110V plus 2000mm steel cable for fastening to the ceiling). The horizontal and vertical pendant versions with between 2 and 4 light fittings come with 2 to 4 250W halogen bulbs.

Based on the spirtual quintessence of the twelve-sided dodecahedron, the designer created The Quin.MGX ceiling light so that the viewer's eye is led into the sculpture along many swooping paths, leading from triangles to pentagons and back again. The lamplight also follows these paths. But what is most beautiful about the Quin.MGX is the anti-light, the way the surfaces shadow each other, creating a continuum of differently shaded areas casting smooth gradations of light in a spherical matrix that is punctuated by small pure beams.
Time Magazine included the Quin.MGX as part of its Design 100 in 2008.

The design for the Detail.MGX lampshade involved the unmistakable pattern of a fingerprint, which when shared, is closely associated with a loss of privacy - in this case, the designer's own. He stretched his print around a sphere, its unique swirls becoming channels through which light could shine.
