Soft seating featuring a blend of levels and heights with a sinuous feel. Inviting and varied shapes. Combinational elements with mixtures that create a curvy continuity. Two comfortable and different sofa ends: a smooth and soft extended reclining area with a wide asymmetric armrest; the other end tapers away from a large cushion with a short and free lateral cuff. The higher seated areas enhance the composition possibilities and diversities that complete the mix and match options. The generous ample sofa backs blend in perfectly with this confident yet harmonious fusion of various parts.

"Grand Confort, petit modèle"
The "Grand confort" is part of the series of furnishings in tubular steel presented in 1929 at the Salon d'Automne in Paris, which were born from collaboration between Le Corbusier, his cousin Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.
Four independent removable cushions are contained within a metal "basket" structure. The modernist response to the traditional club chair (a supporting structure in wood with external padding attached to it). Maximum comfort, provided with minimal work and use of materials.
The prototype was different from the current model: in 1959 when the production in series began in Zurich, the interior decorator Heidi Weber suggested chrome-plating the structure, giving the cushions a square, formal appearance, and eliminating the spring mechanism in the back legs, which made the chair bend backwards.
Weber was also the one to recommended making sofas, but they were only introduced years later, due to firm opposition from Le Corbusier, who retained that the Grand comfort philosophy was applicable exclusively to armchairs, which meet the needs of individuals, while sofas must meet different requirements, such as, favoring social relationships in a room.

LE BAMBOLE
Sofa and armchair
Design Mario Bellini (1972)
Designed by Mario Bellini, the Le Bambole collection is a perfectly calibrated, unprecedented combination of materials with different degrees of elasticity. You will find no rigid supports, no traditional armrests, no base frame, no feet and no concession to extra image making. These characteristics earned Le Bambole the “Compasso d’oro” award in 1979.

Two or three seater linear upholstered sofa, in supple, fluent shapes; the large, enveloping back has an arched, convex profile and the back-support cushion rests against it. The seat, which is gently curved.expands onto ample cushions. A single end, either left or right, completes the sofa: it is a deep, hollowed back, almost like a deckchair, which contains the lengthened seat, the paw-like legs lift it up off the ground and make the whole of the fitted units light: the seat, the back and the arms. The supporting structure is made of steel, the padding is polyurethane and the covers are made of fabrics, leather or microfibre from our collection. Button tufted version.

Both the smaller model (180cm) %u2013 which can be fitted to a second, identical sofa to form a single item (360cm) %u2013 and the longer single model (260cm), emerge from a single padded surface with a deep structural slit that enables folding back to form the backrest and, obviously, a sofa shape. It appears as a fluid shape, a streamlined silhouette, sliding seamlessly from two to three dimensions. The slim metal feet are inserted to create the illusion that the sofa is actually floating on air. The backrest turns into the seat and vice versa, with a fluidity that is also reflected during use, easy and extremely comfortable.
The sofas have been integrated with two coffee tables. A C-shaped one, whose base can slide under the sofa, thus taking the support surface well back compared to the sofa seat and a "floating on air" one. The top is a lacquered wooden cube with a huge central bore: here a round transparent Plexiglas vase is inserted and serves as a table base but also as a container for plants, lamps or other items. In that apparent void there is a concentration of energy that begins to irradiate the entire landscape from here.

Philosophy ATHENA
Contrary to individual pad furniture is the development of a cubic
Pad furniture making box not only a conceptual, but above all also a Heruasforderung by program,
All parts such as cushions, Rückenkissen, side and/or arm partial cushions and underbodies must be so arranged that them with arbitrary arranging of an individual Sitzmöbels perfect, esthetic conditions to always have to each other.
Together with the assigned carrier parts such as feet, bases, border frames or Drehteler the composition must "sit" at the conclusion, convince and inspire proportionally.
With Athena that succeeded to us.
