At the exhibition Furniture Exhibition Moroso is featuring a diversified and complex programme. “VICTORIA AND ALBERT” (this is the name of the collection) is the result of the intention to propose an innovated but comfortable and cozy design, that may be ideally far from Ron Arad´s ‘sculptured upholstery´ that have been part of Moroso´s catalogue for years, and still are a ‘living´ solution for people is different situations. Two armchairs accompany a sofa that is the absolute main character on the stage: a true ‘positive form´ that is capable of mediating design and functionality combining both research and technology thus assuring a comfortable and cozy place to rest without having to give up ‘pillowy´ solutions. In this case, even the designer does not intend to build a totem, his intention is expressed by the possibility to use an object in the most normal manner considering both comfort and beauty. The choice of the name “VICTORIA AND ALBERT” is a homage to the famous museum in London, where a very important anthology of Ron Arad´s works has been hosted in June. The great success with the Victoria & Albert armchair encouraged Moroso to look deeper into the aspects analyzing the possibility to use new materials, maintaining the original shape of the product. The search for new materials have given way to a new approach through the creation of Little Albert, mass-produced obtained by a rotationally moulded coloured polyethelene. The shape of the armchair is the same, material changes. The resistance of the material makes it possible for the armchair to be used in closed and open environments. In fact, the plastic used is resistant to thermal shock as well as to sunlight. Little Albert is mass-produced, using the rotational technology, it is completely recyclable, and is coloured. The colours available include black, yellow, red, orange, white and transparent white.

Patricia Urquiola has an innate capacity to design objects with a strong connotation, which revolve around the upholstered families. A new look at the hammock style, presented at the Ideal House exhibition in Cologne; the ideal companion to the Smock armchair presented at last year’s Milan Furniture Show. It displays the same exploration of solids and voids, comfort and luxury, that distinguishes Urquiola’s work. This sophisticated, elegant sofa uses a light, stylised design centred around the draping over the ring-shaped armrests. The unusual feature of a full-length zip is for removing the cover and for joining different materials. The two rings have become arms, the objective lightness is maintained and transmitted by the slightly foamed shell. The small armchair stands on a slide or on a central tube. The particular feature is the smock stitch, embroidered at the sides, giving a luxurious and refined quality. A leather version is also envisaged, again confirming Moroso as a company that offers a unique product representing a way of working that, even though industrialized in its processes, remains hand-crafted in the attention to detail and the finishes.

After their presentation of the Charpoy collection and their immediate ascent to international star status, Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien continue their partnership with Moroso in the shape of two new products, My Beautiful Backside and Princess. Like Charpoy, these display a fusion of two worlds, India and Europe.
Nipa and Jonathan have this to say about their new design:
"My Beautiful Backside is a collection of seats whose backrests are a composition of highly coloured, floating cushions in various shapes. The wider your seat, the more cushions you can have. Our use of oversize symbols, such as the buttons on cushion backs, is a way of conveying a variety of messages. These symbols also provide a means of customising each chair, making it unique, just as you would add little distinguishing touches to an article of clothing. We used a new wool fabric designed by Giulio Ridolfo for Kvadrat. We teamed it up with felt because it's a combination that reminds us of old-fashioned clothes with stiff starched collars. We also designed a new daybed, called Princess, with layers of mattresses. The top mattress is covered with a composition of different objects and since they draw inspiration from a modern princess they're embroidered in gold and silver".

Ron Arad's unconventional design approach always creates a challenge in the way materials are used in both the design and production stages.
His new Do Lo Res mixes and merges the worlds of the arts, design and technology. Do Lo Res is a very up-to-the-minute sofa composed of several soft, square-based cube- or rectangular-shaped units of various heights. The units are arranged in rows to form the shape of the sofa, and fixed to a platform by steel pins.
The units all have a 21x21cm footprint while varying in height from 27.5cm to 83cm. They are made of different-density polyurethane foam; a stiffer foam is used at the bottom of each unit in order to grip the steel pin, while softer foam at the top ensures optimum comfort. Do Lo Res units may be rearranged to form a wide variety of shapes and compositions.
This seemingly simple product is actually extremely complex in construction, structure and production terms.
Ron Arad proposes a contemporary look at design to bring the virtual world into the real world.

A harmonious line that adds a distinctive touch of style to community spaces, or a warm and attractive fur-nishing scheme lending a stylish touch to the home. Whatever its setting, Loop’s soft, elegant lines are a stylish expression of Arper’s new departure in the divan and sofa segment: modular and fitted for contract projects or two- or three-seaters for domestic settings.
Loop has a padded wooden frame covered in fabric, leather, faux leather or the customer’s own fabric. The frame is mounted on a satin-finish steel structure. Its versatility makes Loop an ideal solution for both small and large spaces: customers can choose from the two- or three-seater versions or combine the modules to suit their needs. MULTILOVE
project: E. Buscemi – P. Leone
This project was focused on designing some simple, sculptural, almost abstract elements, able to create - once assembled - the overall effect of dynamic and strong personality shapes.
Not just a simple repetition of modular elements, but a group of sectionals to create a place for human relations, a small multiform architecture, a place where living together.
Spacious, comfortable, and informal configurations may be realized, as well as small, soft and dynamic architectures with only two elements, for home and public furnishing.
Its dimensions are important and invite to relax. Its pure volumes have been used as three-dimensional boards for the presentation of elegant and precious fabrics which, together with cushions of various dimensions and materials, grant a taste of sensual and contemporaneous luxury.

LINK
Project: N.Delfinetti, A.Scarpitta
Link is the exemplification of a free, non-conformist, casual, coloured and funny life style.
Giovannetti tries with LINK to solve the largest number of different combinations with the least number of elements, shaping single, double, rectilinear and round seats. Due to the perfectly assembling shape of the pouf, the sofa may convert into a chaise-longue.

ARIES
Project: Pietro Cavallo
Aries was born from a scrupulous and patient formal research, that takes shape in a drawing aiming to synthesise harmony created by the opposites.
Balance is researched by the combination of features and shapes with different peculiarities.
Joining of creative principles such as Earth and Sky, Female and Male, is verifiable in the relation between the sofa seat; in its elliptical, harmonious, wrapping feature we find lightness and feminine grace; and the back, representing virility, dynamism and the force of the masculine principle.
Elliptical seat: wooden frame, high density polyurethane foam covered with protective lining

COLLECTION VISIONNAIRE
The charm of a royal palace, the magical appeal of the night: Visionnaire begins with the dignitg of an ancient gate that opens onto an unusual world. The dark inspirations, the esoteric references, and a feai decoratiue elements interpreted in euerg possible uariable recur as the strong elements of the Visionnaire stgle. Visionnaire is the dream of a world that expresses a nearly-Baroque decoratiue quest, the excellence of form, and the sophistication of materials. Just as in an ancient residence, the spirit of the enuironments plays with the hidden, multi-faceted, unconscious side of the indinidual: the house is the staging of a life full of fascination, and references to a ujorld that is not exhausted by reality. Black and ujhite close the circle: in the perfection of their symmetry, they explain the attaction of opposites, dark and light, night and day. Whit* Gothic also designs interiors folloujing an absolutely personal, is a dream of the opposite, in wich mystery and the night seem to find some peace In the milky glare of the day... but it's only an impression, this time is not that of reality.
