Tensar SS geogrids
Tensar SS geogrids are used for the reinforcement of soils and aggregates in construction of structures such as road pavements, working platforms and reinforced foundations.
Tensar SS geogrids are stiff monolithic geogrids with integral junctions. They are orientated in two directions such that the resulting ribs have a high degree of molecular orientation which continues through the area of the integral node. The ribs have a rectangular cross section with square edges.

Tensar International has almost 30 years of experience in analysing and optimising the performance of geogrids.
This geocomposite provides outstanding performance for ground stabilisation applications involving high ground water levels and highly mobile, saturated subgrade soils.
A selected non-woven geotextile laminated to a TriAx™ geogrid provides filtration and separation to resist the upward migration of fine subgrade particles into the granular layer, which may otherwise lead to significant loss of performance, particularly with more open graded aggregates.

Enkagrid PRO and MAX geogrids are reinforcement mats of solid polypropylene or polyester bars or aramid fibers. The aramid fibers of Enkagrid TRC are embedded in nonwoven filter layers.
The polyester or polypropylene bars of Enkagrid PRO and Enkagrid MAX are laser-welded together precisely to form an open, permanent and strong structure for soil reinforcement and soil stabilization. The use of highly oriented polymer bars allows Enkagrid to meet the requirements of the most demanding engineering structures. Compared with polyester or polypropylene multi-filaments, the solid bars with their low specific surface area are much more resistant to aggressive chemical attack and mechanical damage from soils.
The woven aramid fibers of Enkagrid TRC are thermally bonded into a nonwoven.
The geogrid composite combines a number of functions in a single product delivering reinforcement, separation and filtration.
The materials used in the production of Enkagrid geogrids are environmentally friendly, as they do not react chemically with their environment in any way.
When it comes to soil reinforcement and stabilization, Colbond can draw on over 20 years experience. The first flexible geogrid was launched in 1986. The experience gained since then has provided the basis for the development of today's state-of-the-art Enkagrid product family.
All Enkagrid geogrids deliver:
- Reinforcement for all soil structures
- A perfect combination of geometry and polymers to provide the ideal soil-grid
interaction for all soil types
- Outstanding permanent mechanical strength and long-term durability
- Ease of handling and installation
- Wide range of product types to suit the specific needs or your project
- Proven design programs, a design service and technical back-up for a reliable
effective design
The Enkagrid geogrids are divided into three groups, characterized by their main applications:
Enkagrid PRO (e.g. Enkagrid PRO 90)
- Uniaxial geogrids of extruded polyester bars
- Suitable for the reinforcement of slopes, embankments and walls with different
facings, BBA certified and approved (British Board of Agrément)
- Available in five different tensile strengths, as a result highly economically efficient in
use
Enkagrid MAX (e.g. Enkagrid MAX 40)
- Biaxial geogrid of extruded polypropylene or polyester bars
- Absorbs forces from dynamic and static loads
- Suitable for the stabilization of weak soils underneath paved and permanent unpaved
roads, structural foundations or embankments
- Can help to reduce sub-base thickness by up to 30%, depending on local conditions
Enkagrid TRC (e.g. Enkagrid TRC 30)
- Multifunctional biaxial geogrid composite of high-modulus low-elongation Twaron®
aramid fibers embedded in a Colback® polyester nonwoven: reinforces, separates
and filters
- Suitable for use in construction haul roads, parking areas or airport runways
- Outstanding stress-strain ratio to meet the most demanding requirements
- Allows thinner sub-base layers, extends structure life considerably

Terram Trinter Mat is a three dimensional matting manufactured using strong, durable polymers with a high resistance to degradation. Terram Trinter Mat traps newly laid soil and seed preventing it from being washed or blown away. Applicable for steep slopes prone to erosion by water or wind.

TenCate Miragrid GX is a geogrid, made from high tenacity polyester, and has a polymeric coating. GX is charcaterized by high strength at low elongation and excellent friction properties opposite coarse-grained soil. It is therefore mainly used for the reinforcement of non cohesive soild. It is used in subgrade stabilisation and th econstruction of roads and railways, for slope reinforcement in landfills and for retaining structures, including those with facings made from prefabricated concrete blocks.

MacGrid® WG series of woven geogrids are predominantly used in Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) and Reinforced Soil Slope (RSS) structures of virtually any height, and for stabilizing and reinforcing subgrades. They have a polyester core encased in a tough PVC sheathing. The sheathing and dimensions of the polyester MacGrids® mean that almost any type of backfill can be used, from large granular fill to more cohesive materials.
MacGrid® reinforced soil slopes are generally designed to vegetate, therefore a wedge of topsoil is placed behind the face of the reinforced slope. A bio-degradable blanket is installed preventing the topsoil and fill from spilling out between the apertures in the grid, and accelerates the vegetation of the slope.
MacGrid® WG has also been tested to be used with most of the Segmental Block Manufacturers like block Lock+Load, Keystone, Rockwood, Anchor and Versa-lok.

Erosion Protection for Vulnerable Surfaces
Erosion of soil from embankments and channels is a serious problem. It becomes critical when the erosion results in expensive structural damage to infrastructure or when it leads to the pollution of watercourses. Relying upon vegetation growth alone is very unpredictable and unreliable as it is extremely difficult to achieve 100% vegetation coverage, leaving exposed areas vulnerable to erosion. Furthermore, vegetation can die back or become diseased, reducing the erosion control capability.
MacMat® Protection Applications
-Highway embankments
-Channel linings
-Slopes and embankments
-Railway cuttings
-Turf Reinforcement Mats
Maccaferri's MacMat® and MacMat® R are TRMs: three dimensional permanent erosion control mats composed of UV stabilized, non degradable synthetic fibers. MacMat® R has an additional structural skeleton of Maccaferri double twisted steel wire mesh within the polymer matrix.
MacMat® immediately increases the soil's resistance to erosion by providing an environment that enhances the growth of vegetation through the mat.
Supplied in rolled form, MacMat® is anchored to the surface to be protected using staples or pins. Topsoil is brushed into the voids within the matrix. Seed can be applied to the surface before or after MacMat® is installed as vegetation will develop unhindered by the matrix.
