An HPL (high-pressure laminate) is a thin panel used as a decorative or functional surface. It is characterized by:
- Great resistance to impact, wear and scratches
- Resistance to moisture, fire and chemicals
- Dimensional and color stability
- Decorative variety
These panels are used to manufacture furniture, cover interior and exterior surfaces and in street furniture and urban fixtures. They are used in laboratories, hospitals, childcare centers and other settings where hygiene is important.
HPL panels consist of several layers of a cellulose-based fibrous material (usually paper), a decorative layer resembling wood, stone, metal or another material, and a transparent finish layer. These are bonded under high pressure into a rigid, hygienic, high-performance product.
