Linen fabric is produced from fibers of the flax plant. It is popular due to its strength, durability, stain resistance and coolness in hot weather. On ArchiExpo, this material is arranged by properties including motif and function.
This fabric is used for tablecloths, quilt coverings, bedsheets and pillowcases. It is also found in upholstery, curtains and even wallpaper. While pure linen often comes in neutral shades, some blends feature bright colors and motifs.
Linen quality is determined by the fineness of the weave and the length of the staple, or fibers. High-quality linen products are smooth, while those of lesser quality can contain knots due to manufacturing defects.
Determine whether a blend or a pure linen product is more appropriate. Pure linen offers superior comfort in summer, but creases easily and is more expensive than a cotton/linen blend, which is also stronger and less likely to shrink. Consider the comfort and visual aspects of different weaves, motifs and textures. A translucent linen window covering or light shade can transform the quality of the light passing through it.
