Luminous Virtual Windows open up enclosed interior spaces with vistas of natural light and beauty and transform confined spaces into more spacious feeling, inviting, and memorable environments.
Features & Benefits:
Luminous Virtual Windows are designed for flush installation, surface mounting, or can be installed double-faced for viewing from two sides. They come in many shapes and sizes. They are often configured in pairs or sets, which enhances the 3-dimensional effect by stimulating stereo, binocular vision. Several styles of wood and aluminum trim elegantly complete the window illusion.
Unique, edge-lighting system allows for a slim design (1-3/4 inches thick) with even light distribution. Luminous Virtual Windows are installed with 6500K, T-5 fluorescent lighting systems. 6000K, RFfreeLux™ LED lighting for MRIs, and other shielded environments, is an option. Both systems provide daylight-balanced light (the same light used to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder) for rich color rendition and recognition as “natural” daylight.
Luminous Virtual Windows feature proprietary and licensed, high-resolution photography, that provides a stunning 3-dimensional experience when used in concert with our lighting and display system. This collection of Fusion Architectural Panels, which was developed in collaboration with New York City's Pratt Institute, represents new finishes, patterns and application ideas that resulted from the students’ thought provoking work.
In 1997, Designtex collaborated with Pratt Institute to deliver a collection of design driven textiles. Designtex has once again looked to the teachers and students at Pratt; this time with a challenge of incorporating design innovation into Designtex’s line of Fusion Architectural Panels.
The exploration gave students an opportunity to understand the impact of material and the detail needed for interior/exterior applications, while being challenged with full scale environments and the tectonics of materials. Throughout the creative process raw ideas were translated into representational designs, and then into full scale real life constructions that awed the Designtex Studio. Students presented their innovative and detailed projects to Designtex President & CEO, Tom Hamilton, and the Designtex Studio. Their projects incorporated everyday materials and objects while staying consistent with the Designtex sustainable mission. Four projects were chosen to be further developed by the Designtex team using methods for laminating, embossing, perforating and infilling Fusion Architectural Panels. Pratt professor Anthony Caradonna stated, “This studio became evidence of the incredible potential of the collaborative scenario and how powerful a think tank it can be simultaneously for academic, design-oriented and commercial applications.” |

The wedi “BA Vapor” building board with built-in vapour barrier is being introduced
for all rooms subject to high vapour pressures and temperature differentials.
Already installed at the factory, the epoxy resin vapour barrier saves the craftsman
valuable installation time, guarantees reliable sealing and makes it possible to apply
high-quality wall covering rapidly. “BA Vapor” is suitable for all surfaces to be covered
with ceramic tiles or plaster.
Especially in buildings with swimming pools, steam baths or communal showers, elevated
air humidity is a permanent condition. Sound structural engineering principles require the
addition of a vapour barrier when incorporating thermal insulation in such walls.
With the new “BA Vapor” building board, however, thermal insulation and the vapour barrier
can be applied in a single step. wedi sealing tape is used to protect joint areas and openings against humidity and steam.
“BA Vapor” boards measure 2.50 x 0.60 metres and are available in thicknesses of
12.5 millimetres, 20 millimetres and 50 millimetres. |
