Clocks are designed to tell time, but have become decorative objects suitable for display in any room. The many different configurations include wall and table clocks, pendulum and projection models. All fall into one of two broad categories. Analog clocks, with hands, are the traditional type par excellence, the ones used to teach children how to tell time. Digital clocks are simple, silent and often have a color LED display which is readable day or night. They are used primarily on a desks or nightstands.
TechnologiesClocks use one of three principal sources of power:
- Most run on batteries, making it possible to place them anywhere,including on a piece of furniture or a wall.
- Clocks powered by house current must be placed near an outlet and are subject to power outages.
- Solar clocks are light-sensitive, silent and very trendy. They have no batteries, are immune to power failures and often feature a decorative design.
