Rainwater tanks

How to choose this product

rainwater tank

A rainwater tank is used for stocking water from roof or surface runoff. Water can be directed from the roof into an overground rigid steel or plastic tank or into a flexible bladder. Surface runoff is usually collected in an underground tank, which may be constructed of concrete. On ArchiExpo, tanks are arranged by properties such as usage or type of installation.

Applications

These tanks are used to recover water for household or commercial needs, such as filling swimming pools or for garden use. This supplementary supply is particularly useful in areas prone to drought.

Technologies

Fiberglass, metal and polyethylene are commonly used to manufacture such tanks.

How to choose

Consider the volume of water to be stocked. Tank size will depend on budget, available installation space, amount of rainfall and water needs. The tank may be one component of a complete system or acquired separately from other necessary elements, including filters, gratings and connectors. The collection surface should kept clean and free of hazardous chemicals and other pollutants.

While concrete underground storage is robust, it can be costly and is not always suitable. A bladder tank may represent a compact, flexible alternative to traditional barrel-shaped tanks. Some models offer attractive wood or other finishes to blend into garden environments.

Advantages

-Ecological
-Can save money on water

Disadvantages

-May need careful maintenance
-May require a lot of space
