The traditional Skydoor Hydraulic Hinged skylight can be supplied with a single or double leaf, either as a stand alone unit on a flat or sloping roof. The hydraulic actuation system needs to be used on any hinged rooflight above 3 square metres, and can open to 90 degrees for access. A manual override operation can be interated into the rooflight making it ideal for a Succah rooflight. A high performance safety glass is flush fixed and factory bonded wherever possible, giving a clean flush all-glass appearance to the outside, hence its suitability for low pitch and flat roof applications. Often specified for ambience and access where a full opening is required and no roof parking space is available for a sliding rooflight option. For roof terrace access applications the hinged panels can also act as safety balustrades in the fully open position.
Rooflight is factory pre-assembled, tested and delivered ready for a speedy and simple fixing operation. Opening mechanisms are normally concealed within the framework giving an unobstructed daylight view.

Due to the popularity of our roof terrace access rooflights, the designers at Glazing Vision have developed a design principle which can be used to offer a standard solution in both a free standing box rooflight or a 3 wall mounted version. Using these design principles cost and lead time reductions can be passed onto the customer.
The Sliding box rooflights are a great option for terraced access as it offers a physical structure and the fixed walls of glass provide a balustrade around the opening. It also allows you to continue your handrail right up to the point of leaving the box and stepping onto the roof terrace. The box rooflight consists of two sections, one fixed section and one sliding section. The sliding section slides over the fixed section to create 50% clear opening thus allowing the user to walk through and out of the rooflight. All the glass used is flush to allow water run off and easy cleaning, whilst maintaining maximum security.
All Glazing Vision sliding rooflights are low-noise in operation and have built in electronic solid-state controls with battery back-up, manual override, speed control and creep-speed sealing at end of travel as standard. Often viewed as being out of date, there are still good reasons to specify the use of patent glazing. Where there is a need to match the style of the building, patent glazing will complement the design.
Where minimal intrusions are required, the use of the inverted 'T' sections allows head heights to be maximized. Roof vents will need to be framed, rebated and gasketed - needing a patent glazing bar.
With a variety of thermally broken patent glazing bars available we are able to accommodate different loadings, subject to calculating the pitch of the roof, glass weights, etc.

Roof Lights - Structurally Silicone Bonded
Rather than relying on a traditional aluminium framework such as 'patent glazing' to support the double-glazed panels, why not have the glass do all the work?
Glass is a very strong material and can support great loads (see 'glass flooring' for more information). Also, the air within the double glazed units is a good insulator - hence the reason why it is hermetically sealed, to stop heat/cold transference.
Designing the glass roof light to be self-supporting, with no aluminium supports, results in a much lighter appearance, giving designers and their clients a bigger 'wow factor', and at the same time being more effective and efficient in insulating the property into which it is installed.
Glass is strong enough to cope with some significant loads, and is able to span up to 1700mm without deflecting (based on a 10mm toughened outer sheet, 16mm spacer and a 6mm toughened inner sheet).
