LUNAR, Manolo Bossi, 2007
LUNAR is a round indoor dining table. The opaque tabletop, made of 12 mm thick self supporting Abet laminate, rests on a metal structure reminiscent of lunar landscapes in old science fiction films. Lunar’s central base is made of nitrogen-cut and folded 8 mm thick aluminium sheet, and finished with matt micro-embossed paint. With its rounded shapes, is hollow on the inside to create a sensation of lightness. A no-gravity feel. The tabletop is available in two different sizes: 130 and 140 cm in diameter.

The outer part is made of European Lime wood duramen. The internal parts are made of other hard woods, such as ash and beech wood. For technical reasons, some other parts, even external ones, may be made of veneered cherry. Tenon and mortise assembly systems are adopted, while the dovetail system is adopted for drawers. Natural ecologic varnishes are used for finishes, as well as shellac and beeswax.
