Contained within this contemporary rectilinear American Walnut side table, is the ghost of its past, a 1730 Queen Anne side table. The Queen Anne period was the first chapter in design within ENGLISH FURNITURE. This TABLE aims to promote, design educate and stimulate the imagination. The tables design is subtle, only in certain lights and at various angles is the idea evident. Originally made in walnut on a small bench saw. as a limited edition of 5 in 2007 for 'Collect' at the Victoria & Albert Museum. This table promoted CRAFT and skills of the HAND MADE. Proof that great expenses on application such as cnc are not required for prototypes just time and patience. 'Anne' has now evolved for 2008. A prototype has now been manufactured by the Italian firm Andreoli in LG Hi-Macs a composite material 75% natural stone and 20% acrylic. The material complements the table and its design perfectly and is a dramatic step into the possibilities of production.

Consus
Albert Heer 1998
This unusual side table by the Swiss architect Albert Heer evokes the image of a clearly structured two-storey villa with far protruding terraces. The choice of materials and colours is pure modernism: glass, stainless steel and black or white lacquer. The "Consus" table is an intriguing combination of strict geometry and playful variation: the lower shelf can be moved as desired or removed completely.

I have always been seduced by the perfect form the cactus symbolizes. The fact that it is modular, allowing for multiple
combinations, has always seemed interesting. I wanted to exploit this quality, building up the piece with different shapes.
The priority for me was that each part, if removed from the whole, would still be appealing but also have a function of
it’s own. So, a functional sculpture it was: A piece that could be as beautiful as the cactus, but that would offer a variety
of uses. At the beginning, I thought of making a series of stackable stools in different materials. I thought about it for
a while and started wondering, "why should they all be stools?" So we started working with the Moooi team on a new
concept where each piece of the stackable sculpture would have a different use: mirror, table, tray, etc. A series of .
different colours, materials and finishes would then be applied to each vertebra making the whole richer and more
flexible
