The Chiaravalle series draws its inspiration from
the designs and colouring of a typical limestone
rock widely used in the Chiaravalle della Colomba
Abbey, found a short way from Piacenza.
The Abbey, built in about the 12th century, originally
had some Romanesque architectonic elements
that were remodelled over the years during
extension work on the building to create the
splendid Gothic cloister used afterwards by the
Benedictine monks.
The rather finely grained yellow stone is variegated
with warm, interesting tones creating a surface
design blending in well with the background colour.
The Chiaravalle series recreates the same colouring
and the delicate structure together with a timeworn
effect giving a charming "antique" appearance to
the whole floor, enhancing its beauty and elegance

Etruria, classic name referred to the territories in Central Italy spreading from the center located in today’s Tuscany, is the area in which the oldest calcareous stone quarries were located.
Extensively used in the past on account of its easy workability, the calcareous rock has continued to be used till nowadays, with a whole variety of applications for public and private building.
The series Etruria has been inspired by the calcareous stones that used to be cut in layers and therefore it reproduces the typical color softness and slight veining of their unmistakable surface.
Thanks to the unique softness of its surface, Etruria can be easily maintained and excellent wear resistance qualities are guaranteed by its precious glaze. As a result it turns out to be a particularly versatile product offering a wide range of applications for the building of dwelling houses, both in classical modern contexts.

Lapis Tiburtinus better known as the Stone of Tibur (ancient name from Tivoli) was the Latin denomination for the prized calcareous rock variety now commonly called Travertino.
The use of Travertino continues, allowing for diverse architectural result like the Court of Law at Rome and the New Station at Florence.
Emilceramica took inspiration from various architectural layouts realized using this “Travertino” of italian origin to obtain a ceramic interpretation, thus creating the new range of tiles in fact named Lapis Tiburtinus.

The “ Pietra Etrusca ” is a gold coloured limestone quarried since the 5th century B.C. in the quarries of the province of Grosseto.
Being extremely easy to work and delicately coloured it was very soon successfully used in the fields of architecture and sculpture, thus becoming the material “par excellence” in Etruscan buildings.
Its popularity can still be found in the archaeological sites of cities like Volterra, Orvieto and Viterbo where amphitheatres, portals and temples maintain their well-balanced and delicate colours from long ago.
Emilceramica, always striving for continuity and searching for natural materials rich in history and culture to rediscover, now revives a fragment of our past after more than two thousand years, reinterpreting it in the light of modern design criteria with an up-to-date and versatile product.

The chipped rock or polished stone flloring have replaced, with obvious advantages, the pressed dirt floors of prehistorical times. This type of flooring is still seen today in some alpine huts or mountain coal miners seasonal shelters: sometimes it extends to the outside, as perimeter siderwalks resulting in a pleasant harmony with the interior. The tiles from the “ Saxa” series provide an ideal solution for offices or villas located within a natural habitat, as well as giving a tone of rustic elegance in city environments.
