The Guy Linking Cable System consists of a range of stainless steel architectural cable assemblies, ideal for many structural and architectural applications.
All Guy Linking tendons use high-grade 316 stainless, which ensures a long service life with very little maintenance.
Guy Linking Cable Tendons (using swaged and threaded components).
Macalloy currently have the capacity to swage stainless cable assemblies ranging from 3mm to 26mm. There are three types of standard strand construction available;
* 1x19 Spiral Strand, the wires have a smooth bright finish with moderate initial stretch properties.
* Compact Strand, offers 30% increase in breaking load over conventional 1x19 strand
with a much lower initial stretch.
* 7x19 Strand, ideal for situations where flexibility is a requirement.

After the success of the Macalloy 460 and S460 systems, and also in order to meet the ever increasing needs of its customers, the Macalloy SC460 Stainless Cable System has been introduced.
This specially designed system incorporates cable adaptors, which allow standard Macalloy S460 range of forks. By using the standard Macalloy S460 forks on the cable ends, continuity of design remains in projects where standard Macalloy 460 & S460 bar systems have been used alongside the Macalloy SC460 stainless Cable Systems.
The cable used in the system undergoes both a conventional elastic stretch as well as an initial stretch can be between 0.10 and 0.75% of the cable length, depending on the magnitude and frequency of loading, and should always be considered in the design of the structure.
Macalloy offers three types of cable:
* 1x19 spiral strand, has moderate initial stretch properties. All the cable adaptor fittings are designed to match the minimum breaking load of the 1x19 cable.
* Compact Strand, has a higher breaking load along with a lower initial stretch than the 1x19 strand cable and is available in most diameters.
* 7x19 strand is the most flexible cable is available in most diameters.

The new Macalloy compression struts are available in stainless and carbon steel in diameters M12 to M100 and provide an architectural solution for structural members that are required to act in compression.
A typical Macalloy compression strut utilises standard Macalloy 460 and 520 fork end fittings and pin sets. These connect to specially designed cones that in turn are welded onto each end of a CHS (circular hollow sections).
The use of the Macalloy systems as a compression strut is also approved in Germany by the Deutches Instit für Bautechnik under approval number Z-14.4-530.For further information please contact the Macalloy technical department.

Macalloy 460 is a fine grain steel with an exceptional blend of mechanical properties; combined with rolled threads this provides a material with superior fatigue performance. Macalloy 460 is a weldable steel with a maximum carbon equivalent of 0.55%.
All fittings are designed and tested to provide a tensile capacity equal or superior to that of the theoretical strength of the bar. The Macalloy 460 system is designed in accordance with the steel work design code BS5950, and is also UK CARES approved for conformance with the design of steel structures: general rules for building DD ENV 1993-1-1:1992 (EC3).
The standard left hand right hand tendon will provide adjustment to accommodate site and manufacturing tolerances:
* Cutting tolerance for bars: up to M76 +/- 6 mm
* Cutting tolerance for bars: over M76 +/- 25mm
* Adjustment for tendons M12 to M56 +/- ½ thread diameter each end
* Adjustment for tendons M64 to M100 +/- 25mm each end
Macalloy 460 can be provided with any practical coating system in accordance with your specification; such as galvanising, sherardizing or painting. Please discuss your exact requirements with the Macalloy engineers.
Architectural fittings are finished to provide a smooth transition from the bar to the fork. This aesthetic appearance is provided by the use of threaded lock covers, which combine the function of a lock nut and a blending thread cover.
The connection to the structure should be made by utilising a web plate with the same thickness and edge distance as the Macalloy spade shown in the product catalogue. All connections should be made using BSEN 10025 Grade S355 material.

The name of Glover has been associated with the Wire Rope- making industry since Wire Ropes were first used over a century ago, and we are in a position to supply all types of ropes in use, from the very small cords up to the larger sizes of Crane and Lift Ropes.
The Engineering and Construction industries use Wire Ropes in the following broad classifications:
Round Strand Ropes cover the majority of applications.
These ropes have 6 round strands over a central core of Fibre or Steel. Also available in Compacted form to give higher breaking loads.
Multi-Strand Ropes comprises ropes with more than one layer of strands, the directions of lay of each layer being arranged to achieve a balanced and relatively rotation resistant rope.

Swage sockets incorporate a reduced machined area of the shank which is equivalent to the proper after Swage dimension. Before swaging, this provides for an obvious visual difference in the shank diameter. After swaging, a uniform shank diameter is created allowing for a QUICK-CHECK™ and permanent visual inspection opportunity.
Designed to quickly determine whether the socket has been through the swaging operation and assist in field inspections, it does not eliminate the need to perform standard production inspections which include gauging for the proper after swage dimensions or proof loading.
