"Unique characteristics and major innovations in the field of tensioned fabric structures ensure Britain's biggest theatre and concert venue stands well apart from all other entertainment centers." (Landrell)
Located next to London's Millennium Dome, the Skyscape is a 120m by 53m single storey portal framed building, designed to conform with the building requirement for permanent structures. It houses two 2500 seat daytime cinemas that convert into a single live concert venue at night. Its enormous clear span membrane roof provides uninterrupted spaces measuring 200ft square formed in dramatic arched valleys
A unique feature of Skyscape is the new Solus 1200 SB (silver/black), developed in conjunction with Landrell Fabric Engineering. Its exterior coating is silver PTFE while its inner coating is black PTFE. This provides the necessary black-out environment for a theatre venue while the silver exterior provides a striking appearance which emphasizes the drama of the building's function. It also enables spectacular night time lighting effects to be more effectively incorporated.
With a potential lifetime of 25 years plus due to the use of Solus PTFE coated glass fabric, Skyscape's innovative tensioned fabric structure will host many of the world's musical superstars during London's Millennium celebrations.

The landmark British Racing Drivers' Clubhouse in the heart of Silverstone Formula 1 circuit was completed in May 2000 for the Grand Prix .
Consistency in mechanical properties and color bleaching was of utmost importance for this arch-supported membrane roof. Solus 1120 was used to fulfill all of these requirements.

" The largest membrane project in the world"
Every year, more than Two million pilgrims perform the Hajj, the pilgrimage to the Holy Mosque in Makkah. The Mina Valley is one of the Hajj stations and hosts the pilgrims for three days and nights.
During the 1997 Hajj season a disastrous fire destroyed tens of thousands of cotton tents. The Saudi Authorities decided to re-build this vast city of tents by installing 40,000 durable fireproof tents. The only fabric that met these requirements was PTFE coated fiberglass.
Taconic's Solus 1420 fabric was selected after a worldwide competition for the first phase of this project. Within a period of four months, Taconic produced and supplied a total quantity of 330,000 sqm.

Solus® fabric was selected to create a striking, clear span, tensioned membrane roof for the District Mosque in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Kota Samarahan a city located in the province of Sarawak in the northern part of Borneo Island, known for its harsh environment.
During the day, the 7,000 sqm of Solus® Fabric allow soft diffused lighting to be transmitted into the building interior.
The District Mosque in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak is the first mosque in the world with a roof entirely made of PTFE coated glass fabric.

IGLOO
This is one of the latest inflatable coverings. The research in to this kind of tent began in 2002 and by the following year our technical department had already developed the technology that would be applied in our first inflatable igloos. Shortly after, during the same year, the production of the 4 and 6 m. diameter units began and from these first units the product has continued to develop, reaching the scale of the large units currently available.
We call them new generation because, unlike the other coverings (Spider, Hangar and Nomad), they allow for much bigger dimensions, they notably improve stability in windy conditions and they are apt for many other uses, which were unattainable before.
The research into these inflatable coverings has been and continues to be a very thorough process. We began by selecting the most appropriate materials, keeping in mind lightness, resistance and durability. The most ideal motors for this type were then studied and then a calculation system was developed for inflatable coverings, that had never been done before and that set the standards for the most suitable manufacture and for strengthening the areas that need most reinforcement.
The structure of this type of igloo is based on a continuous wall formed by a double layer of fabric which circulates the air injected by the turbines.

A pre-engineered tension frame structure consists of an internal metal frame and an architectural fabric skin that is stretched over the frame. As the name indicates, these buildings are pre-engineered to specific sizes and design loads. The internal metal frame will consist of a series of arches, purlins, and cable braces. The frame will be either an aluminum extrusion or a steel truss system. The strength of the architectural fabric that is used depends on the spacing of the arches and the design loads of the building.
Customers typically order buildings based on the size needed and the design load required for a specific site. The pre-engineered building package can be customized to accommodate special needs such as personnel and cargo doors, special colors and graphics, and insulation and liner systems. These buildings can also be heated and air-conditioned.
Typical uses include warehousing, churches, casinos, sporting activities, and manufacturing.

Custom designed tension structures require the collective efforts of an architect, engineer, fabricator and installer. These buildings are one-of-a-kind designs and are often high profile structures. The buildings incorporate metal frames or masts, cables and highly tensioned architectural fabrics. Custom structures can also be designed to adjoin or rest on top of a conventional building.
These buildings often involve three-dimensional fabric shapes that simply cannot be achieved using standard building materials. Due to the high profile nature of custom designed structures, the use of an architectural fabric that utilizes a Tedlar® PVF top coating system is very common.
Custom designed tension structures include shopping malls, canopies, sports stadiums, aircraft hangers and warehousing.
