A revolutionary road lighting fixture uses the best technologies available to increase safety for pedestrians, while reducing environmental impact.
Designed by Giugiaro Architettura and manufactured by Disano illuminazione, OnOff was launched at Remade, Portugal, the exhibition of high-tech products that are built using recycled and recyclable materials.
The project is part of a number of events promoted by Cestec, a Lombardy-based company created to support manufacturers in the production of excellent products, using environmentally friendly recyclable materials.
OnOff is a lighting fixture specially developed to increase safety for pedestrians and to reduce environmental impact starting from the production stage.
The luminaire is made of aluminium, an entirely recyclable material, whose design combines a pole and a lighting fixture into one single object.
As to consumption, the opportunity to exploit solar power is the most interesting aspect. In fact, a photovoltaic panel is fitted on the lamp cover. That means that OnOff can be powered independently without connecting it to the mains. The batteries provide in any event a five-day run time in the absence of solar radiation.
The photovoltaic system turns solar power into electricity, thanks to the use of semiconductor materials such as silicon, which is reduced to sheets to create photovoltaic cells.

The green city of the future shines through this sculptural installation for a Cleveland art park. The park reflects two forces: the city’s heritage of craftsmanship and its new green agenda. We covered irregular forms with flexible, solar-paneled skins; these charge LEDs that glow within the forms at night. The designer asked that our frame look “hand bent”, hence the organic kinks. In winter, the fabric is removed to showcase the metal armatures as sculpture.

Webforge privacy screens are manufactured in Europe from aluminium. Manufactured by the press locked method they can be provided in either anodised or powder coated finish in a wide range of colours. Available with aperture sizes varying from 20mm square (22mm x 22mm) up to 50mm square(55mm x 55mm) in 10mm increments. Using slim line aluminium load and cross bars these screen panels are suitable for a wide range of applications both internal and external.

Privacy Louvres
This newly developed full press locked louvre panel combines excellent technical qualities with elegant design and thus offers a variety of new solutions within the current louvre market.
With this new louvre panel engineers and architects can design sun control systems, façade elements or gangways without destroying the architectural concept of the building. When used in gangways or walkways these louvres provide a high level of privacy with the angle of the louvre blade reducing visibility from below the walkway. Designed to reduce the effects of direct sunlight on a building façade Lockline sunscreens reduce energy consumption while at the same time providing a near uninterrupted view of the surroundings. Approximately one third the weight of an equivalent steel profile, Lockline aluminium sunscreens offer construction savings as they can be installed easily without the need for bulky support structures.
Lockline sunscreens can be installed vertically, horizontally or at any angle in between. When installed horizontally it is possible for the sunscreen to provide a dual role as both sunscreen and as a walkway for maintenance access or for window cleaning. Vertical screens on the other hand can be used to hide unsightly areas around the building including bin storage areas, plant and equipment locations and vehicle access ways. In order to meet the concerns relating to excess energy consumption, Blachere illumination has invented the hybrid power supply system for lighting motifs (BHS system).
This exclusive innovation (European patents filled) enables LED lighting motifs to be 100% energy self-sufficient (specific range).
The principle consists of rechatging a battery during the day using a mini solar panel in order to supply power for the motif at night.
During sunny periods, the battery charges fully, which is sufficient alone to supply the motifs completely independently. During cloudy weather, when the battery is not sufficient, the system automatically switches to the network supply, guaranteeing continuity of operation of the motif.
For this reason, and thanks to the BHS Blanchere system, the decoration will be supplied as a priority by solar energy (total energy saving) or by electricity if the climatic conditions are unfavourable.
