Reed is completely natural, made of the kenaf reed. This is the cutting edge of environmentally sound wallcoverings; kenaf grows as fast as bamboo and is neutralized before coloring with hydrogen peroxide instead of chlorine bleach. The kenaf reed and natural grasses are woven together. Some are matte, some have a gentle sparkle. Reed turns corners and installs easily.

Spacer is a triple beam warp knit. It is comprised of three layers which are knitted together: the top layer which is the honeycomb stitch, the inner layer which gives Spacer its spongy quality, and the backing for stability. Again, it is not three separate glued layers but is three beams of yarn knitted together. Warp knits have stretch in both directions making them an excellent choice for seating with curves. Warp knits share attributes of both knits and wovens. They have a warp and a weft giving them stability like a woven and they have "stitches" like knits giving them stretch.

This pattern is named after Sebastien Truchet, a French inventor and engineer in the 18th century who explored the graphical nature of math. Truchet was inspired when visiting a chateau where workers were laying a straight tile floor. He discovered that by using a tile that was designed to meet all four edges the same way and, continuing to quarter turn it, he was able to create a variety of designs. We used this method to create a wandering pattern with an organic feel. Using this method creates a structured, yet random design.
