The Online Architecture and Design Exhibition
A wall panel is a thin, rigid wall covering with decorative and/or insulating properties. It comes in a great variety of formats and materials, with diverse physical characteristics and finishes.
These panels can offer thermal and acoustic insulation or simply serve as decoration. They are found on both interior and exterior walls, in residential and commercial settings, conference rooms, auditoriums, in wet environments and other locations.
Wood, concrete, glass, PVC, acrylic, steel, aluminum, metal mesh, recycled and other materials are used to make wall panels. Finish can be lacquered, printed or relief. Their surface often imitates that of other materials.
Choice will depend primarily on the panel's physical properties and constituent materials. Finish aesthetics, production and installation costs also should be considered.
