The capability to produce with maximum effectiveness and efficiency, Is what guides Alfa Lum in the design and construction of its windows. On one side there are the benefits offered by the wood, such as the natural warmth and functionality, on the other side the longevity of the aluminium insures tangible benefits in the everyday life.
Alfa Lum uses special screws to join the external aluminium component with the inner wooden component for the fixed part (frame) and for the mobile part (door leaves). The major benefit of this method is that the wooden component can be easily replaced. Moreover this method avoids the need to remove the window and ensures the two sashes do not touch to allow for different expansion rates of the two materials. On the external aspect the stability and the solidity are guaranteed by the structural function of the aluminium, while wood is used for aesthetic purposes. In fact, aluminium frames offer more resistance to twisting forces and damages caused by weather conditions, in order to guarantee global protection, Alfa Lum applies multiple locking hardware to the solid bearing structures, equipped with hooked door latches to the frame located on the window to insure total protection.
The major factors leading the customer to the choice of an Alfa Lum window comes from the indirect advantages once the product is installed.

The minimalist appeal and ease of operation of a simple Push Out Casement sash paired with exceptional sealing characteristics and the advanced thermal performance of the Loewen Traditional Casement %u2014 that's the Loewen Push Out Casement.
The Old World appeal of the Push Out style is made stronger and better than its historical predecessors by several Loewen quality features. Our laminated sash, mortise and tenon sash joinery and the strength of standard Douglas Fir are critical in the construction of this historically correct window design. Stable, rigid and durable sash make your Loewen Push Out as enduring as the design aesthetic after which it is patterned.
The ease of opening a Push Out Casement Window hides the sophistication of its technology %u2014 and eliminates the need for a crank handle that can interfere with window treatments.
Precision milled Coastal Douglas Fir as standard, technically advanced stainless steel hardware, durable weatherstripping and marvelous glass and sealant innovations combine for great performance.
Closing with and effortless click, the quality construction imparts the sensual feel of a finely designed piece of custom joinery.
The pioneering Push Out Casement Window is available with a traditional or Mission sash; double or triple-glazing and standard rectangular or Camber Top shapes. It incorporates an optional, swinging wood screen to complete the refined Old World look and feel.

Mission® Casement windows are an identical twin to Traditional Casements with the exception of the bottom sash rail.
The "sash" is the portion of the window that operates. In traditional joinery, the bottom horizontal wood segment (the "rail") would be constructed of a wood component slightly larger than the other pieces of wood around the glass.
Artisans around the world built window sash this way for hundreds of years %u2014 imparting strength and a uniform interior sash "reveal."
While our Casement window design does not require a heavier bottom rail for structural purposes, there is a strong desire to continue the tradition and authenticity this small but attractive feature adds.
Built for those with an appreciation for quality and accuracy, this design element adds richness to many architectural styles, including Craftsman and Spanish Mission.
The enlarged, eye-pleasing 3 1/16" (78 mm) tall bottom rail is clearly visible on the exterior and makes for a stylish uniform reveal on the interior %u2014 all four sides of the closed sash are visible.
Naturally, all interior jamb mouldings and sill covers are back nailed for a clean interior look free of nail holes, thus allowing for a clear interior stain or a painted finish.
And of course, there are no mitered sash joints %u2014 only genuine stile and rail construction.
Note that a Mission® sash is also available on Loewen Awning windows.
