Tao Flower is named after the 4th century poet who, frustrated by his post in government, retired to tend to his garden. These flowers have come to be identified with Tao and his Utopian retreat. When the Queen ordered Alice to play croquet with a flamingo she never considered that she would be inspiring Jim Thompson to create Feathers. This heavy linen with its fine-line feather pattern plays with the eye much more adeptly than Alice played croquet. The intricate pattern which is screen printed across the entire fabric takes its inspiration from an 18th century pen-and-ink design. From a distance this detailed pattern amazingly fades to be almost semi-plain.
