Overview
Pilkington Optilam is the brand name for our laminated glass range an alternative solution for impact safety. The glass will break following impact but will remain in place thus preventing injury.
Pilkington Optilam is produced by combining two or more sheets of glass with one or more plastic interlayers. Two types of interlayer are used, which have differing properties. The most common is a polyvinylbutyral (PVB) interlayer, which is applied with heat and pressure in factory controlled conditions.
Laminated glass can also be produced by a cast-in-place (CIP) process, in which a resin is poured between two panes of glass held apart by a spacer at the edges. The resin is subsequently cured and the product is known as Pilkington Laminated Glass.
The performance of Pilkington Optilam and Pilkington Laminated Glass can be varied by changing the number and thickness of each of the panes of glass, and the PVB or CIP interlayers. This provides the specifier with a wide choice of products depending on application, whether it be for safety or security, noise control, solar control, UV screening, blast resistance or privacy and decoration. See also Pilkington Optilam I and Pilkington Optilam Phon.

Laminated glass is made by bonding two or more simple lights of glass to PVB (polyvinyl butyral) sheets, a plastic substance with excellent adhesion, elasticity, transparency and resistance.
It is also possible to temper glass before laminating (Stralami Temper).

LX-57B X-Ray shielding lead glass offers excellent radiation protection and superb visual clarity. The polished surfaces are scratch resistant, and LX-57B does not discolor due to radiation. LX-57B is high quality optical grade, lead barium type, X-Ray Shielding Lead Glass that consists of over 60% heavy metal oxide that includes a minimum of 55% Pbo. LX-57B comes in three thicknesses: LX8 (8 mm) is used in most X-ray radiation applications. LX11 (11 mm) and LX14 (14 mm) are used when greater protection is required, for example, in cancer/flouroscopic treatment facilities.

Low-emissivity ARIPLAK Low E is a high performance glass.
In the manufacturing process, one or more layers of metal and metallic oxide are deposited on one of the glass surfaces by a process of high vacuum cathodic pulverisation.
This treatment is carried out at a low temperature, not affecting the flatness of the glass.
|
|
ARIPLAK Solar Control Glass is produced by depositing one or more metallic layers onto the glass surface by means of high vacuum cathodic pulverisation.
This treatment is carried out at a low temperature, not affecting the flatness of the glass.
The sun has a surface temperature of 5,700 K. At this temperature it emits radiation whose peak can be found on a wavelength of 500 nanometres (central zone of visible radiation); this radiation is partially absorbed by the earth’s atmosphere.
The distribution of the remaining energy on the earth’s surface Ariplak Solar Control Glass allows greater control over light and energy transmission, and offers a wide range of aesthetic options.
In climate-controlled spaces, where air-conditioning is essential, it is advantageous to eliminate as much of the sun’s radiant energy as possible.
This multi-layered metallic coated glass provides the solution, along with subsequent energy savings.
When the coatings are combined with tinted glass, many different reflected hues can be created, making available a full range of colours and solar protection properties

Performances in terms of insulation, management of the solar contributions, and optimized transparency. By the research task carried out in the field of the ultra-selective layers, INTERPANE developed a generation of glazings which can from now on circumvent the difficulty in building frontages of glass without the interior of the building being penalized by temperatures as much excessive than unverifiable

Facade systems
Creating open spaces. Realising creative concepts. Understanding architecture as an idea. This is the challenge we face.
For public and commercial buildings, as well as for industrial and administrative buildings. Whether classical mullion-transom façades, element façades, window façades, structural glazing or even three-dimensional objects, such as pyramids, polygons or cradle vaults.
With WICTEC façade systems, all conceivable variants are possible. Design diversity combined with technical variability are what we do best. Sight lines of 50 to 90 mm give rise to completely new creative freedoms. The possibilities for combining the different elements, as well as the compatibility of the systems, enable customised solutions.
However, there is more to façades than technical functionality and creativity; "intelligent façades" are becoming increasingly important. Energy savings, lower costs and greater quality of life are the keywords. Today, the focus is on the development of photovoltaic-, PSW- (passive solar wall) and DuoWall-façade systems. Here, too, WICONA offers a comprehensive range that is being extended and developed on an ongoing basis.

A new technology has been developed to increase the performance of traditional double-glazing, where the traditional aluminium spacer is replaced for a thermo-plastic material (TPS).
This unique system allows the use of a high molecular weight gas filling, together with a structural silicone sealant.
The TPS formulation is based on polyisobutylene, desiccants and ultra-violet inhibitors.

The noise constitutes today one of the independent sources of pollution to be fought, and particularly in urban environment. Where glass can play a paramount part of heat insulator, it will be able to also fulfill an important role with the level of acoustic comfort. ipaphon is an asymmetrical glazing whose filling of the embedded blank is ensured by a specific gas.
Partially, an acoustic insulation sheet or a layer of resin will supplement the effectiveness of the unit. As the thermo isolation remains a concern impossible to circumvent, ipaphon uses the resources of layer iplus glass neutral E. Two reasons to answer the schedule of conditions with a single product
