A mattress wrapped like the wafer of an ice-cream cone inserted inside a small cylindrical base. This is the inviting and practical Huggy armchair. The hold of the base ring grips the lower part of the mattress, holding it together and creating a wrap-around seat with soft arms. By unscrewing the base, the mattress is automatically unrolled and when required becomes a comfortable emergency bed for guests; when the base is turned upside-down it becomes a useful night table...

“La pagnotta” (“the loaf”) is a small armchair with fourteen flexible, jointed legs which can be mounted and dismounted, constructed with tension rods and braces; they hold up a thin, invisible seat padded with a cushion, and wear soft, colourful “slippers”. Fourteen legs, fourteen feet, and fourteen rods that follow the body’s movements, fourteen special fibre ribs to reinforce, contain, and support the anthropomorphic cushions; two faces – one male and the other female, one looking right and the other looking left – which offer a soft welcome.

Benedetta stands out in the ambient like a flower, widening its rounded and comfortable shape from a square and dimensionally contained base. The profile enhances its design quality and the aesthetyc virtuosity is highlighted by original feet which give to it stability and by refined upholstering finishings which are particularly cared.

Giacomino like a little devil seems to have the ability to feel good everywhere in the street, among people, alone at home, together with adults, around with friends, in a body for games; for intelligence, porastuteness, for prompt semplicity. Giacomino arm-chair, small sofà, big sofà is an upholstery simply modern in lines; smart in the proportions, intelligent in the frame, foxy in the technology: it has surely the ability to feel good everywhere: alone at home; in a body in a living-room; together in a hall and also in an office, this model is really a "Giacomino".

Flexible by nature and ideal for large public spaces, the M2 is a modular seating system designed by Scott Wilson for Quinze & Milan. Three basic units (corner, linear and level units), each 1m², supported by powder-coated steel frames fit together to form the desired confi guration. Components can be interconnected or can stand alone. All modules feature QM FOAM™, but level units are also available in veneer (oak, zebrano,…). Light fi ttings can be integrated into the seating elements. M2 has received enthusiastic reviews, as well as honourable mentions at the ISDA Awards and the prestigious ID Design Awards. OMA (office for metropolitan
architecture) commissioned a special version of M2, the M2-CROSS, for the Seattle Public Library, a project for which the seating system had to comply with the strict standards of the ISDA. Custom color or sizes are available upon request.

The design of the NUBE armchair comes from the combination between the flat orthodoxy of the contemporary spaces with the curves of the human body. While the outside lines of NUBE armchair are made of flat parallel surfaces, the space where we can sit is curved and cosy, like a nest. Instead of a solid block, the design of NUBE allows to see all the back part of the armchair. So the shape with all the curves where we are going to sit is visible. Looking at the armchair, before seating, we can already expect a big comfort from the armchair. The volume is then delimited by the sober straight lines of the outside, enriched by the grace of the inner curves. This effect is enhanced by the use of two colours in the upholstery of the armchair, one colour for the flat surfaces and the other colour for the curved surfaces. The frame of the armchair is light, minimal and continues the outer shapes remaining almost unseen. The frame is made of solid chromed steel. Another detail of the NUBE armchair is that it has a square upper view. Different armchairs can be combined turning between them. So the armchairs can be linked making straight lines or angles . NUBE can be used for both, the domestic use or the contract market. NUBE is always upholstered.

Song is a revolutionary armchair which combines the comfort of a winding seat with a sophisticated Hi-Fi system. Song is equipped with a stereo amplifier, two micro-loudspeakers embodied in the headrest and two "sound vibrations" devices inserted in the upholstered armrests. The whole equipment can be connected to a portable CD, DVD or TV system, to create a personalized Home Thetare system. The peculiarity of the sound vibrations reproduced by the Song system creates a positive and relaxing atmosphere where oneself can deep to relieve of a hard working day, to energise before a heavy duty or, more simply, just to listen some good music enjoying the most complete sound sensations.

If it were not for the fact that small armchairs were around before, you could be forgiven for thinking Paolo Piva invented this practical genre. While we may dream of owning a large and inviting armchair, few apartments really have enough room for one. With Auriana, Paolo Piva has once again proved himself to be a master of elegant lines and proportions. And Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten have demonstrated that quality and comfort can and must have their place even in the most confined spaces. There is a strong tradition of small armchairs at Wittmann. The company’s expertise in this area is hardly surprising when one considers that Piva’s Aura has been a part of the collection for a quarter of a century — and neither is the intuitive understanding between designer and company.
