MINIMAL LOOK. MAXIMAL FUNCTION.
The DS 207 model from Antonella Scarpitta is an extremely versatile armchair with a strong personality. It offers elegant geometric lines, ergonomic seating comfort and a high level of functionality for home, office or conference-room applications. This attractively styled model is the ideal complement to the DS 8 lounging programme that de Sede launched last year in collaboration with this intriguing Italian designer. The design that Antonella Scarpitta has created for this new piece is based on contrasts. This is particularly evident in the asymmetrical shape of the armrests, which help give the chair its striking appearance. The armrest has been made wider on one side to create a functional feature that goes beyond the merely aesthetic to form a perfect storage surface. The frame of this lounging armchair is available in a variety of finishes (aluminium lacquer, lustrous pearl or high-gloss chrome plating).

Virtually transparent and weightless is the impression given by the gracious DS-10 sofa. Its ethereal form is emphasised by the slimness of its metal legs. Backrests and armrests alike can be adjusted to provide a variety of functions. The maximum in seating comfort is ensured by the rigid firmness of the upholstery and the supple armrests that top the supporting side sections.

The DS-180 forms a unique counterpoint in seating design: a chromium steel frame flows around the entire sofa. This steel framework, which was conceived in the California of the late 1940s, experiences a rebirth in the DS-180 which transforms this established design concept with a peerless novelty that refuses to ignore the demands of function. The continuous chromium steel frame creates a new style in furniture making that points the way to the profound charms of a higher aesthetic of design. The DS-180 has an unmistakeably retro flavour without its being a mere re-release from the past. Its arresting frame, stunning lines, quality and functionality are already imbuing Contra Punctum with cult status.

As a result in 1958 the designer association SWISS DESIGN came into being, founded by the Swiss gentlemen Hans Eichenberger, Robert and Peter Haussmann, Theo Jakob and Kurt Thut - who, like the Bauhaus artists, were both architects and designers. Their aim: designs in metal furniture suitable for large-scale production. In 1999, de Sede took over manufacture and marketing of the stimulating design created by SWISS DESIGN.

Børge Mogensen designed this sofa in 1962 for his home in Gentofte north of Copenhagen, where it still stands, placed between the two tables that dictated the measurements of the sofa. The simplicity and clean lines have since made the sofa one of the most recognised Mogensen pieces, still used widely today in government buildings, embassies, executive offices and private homes the world over.
|
|
This firm upholstered sofa was designed in 1946. The distinctive, sculptural bowl shape with arms and backrest of uniform height was inspired by Børge Mogensen’s own spoke-back sofa. Designed in 1945 for the autumn exhibition of the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild, it later enjoyed widespread popularity. Further refinement produced the timeless appearance and clearly defined stringency of the sofa. A matching armchair (2215) is also available. Both pieces come in leather and fabric.
|
|
Together with the chair 2234, this 2½-seater sofa represents Peter Mogensen’s completion of the furniture collection started by his father, Børge Mogensen, in 1971, namely sofas 2332 and 2333. The fine proportions and integral simplicity of both sofa and chair bear witness to Peter Mogensen’s intuitive understanding of his father’s design.

|
|
An elegant high-backed leather sofa designed in 1971. Mogensen wanted to design a sofa for peaceful relaxation in front of the fireplace. He was inspired by the distinctive lines of the British ‘hall porter’s chair’ – a classic wing-style chair specially designed to capture heat from the open fireplaces typical of the cold housing of the past. In Danish, the popular term for this model is a ‘compartment sofa’ because it fits snugly round its occupant like the comfortable seats in a first-class train compartment. The sofa is available in two- and three-seater versions as well as a double two-seater version that seats four people.

Description
Field is a simple, plain yet elegant sofa. It's a revisitation of the Springfied, a new, more comfortable and up to date version.
Field is composed of solid geometric shapes (backrests, seats and armrests). The three basic units (80 x 80 cm.; 80 x 110 cm; 110 x 110 cm; 140 x 100 cm) may be rearranged to create many different solutions. The units may also be placed alone. Corner piping is an attractive detail that gives this sofa a special value. The piping may be made of the same fabric as the sofa or customised and highlighted by using a different colour. The large, soft cushions may be the same colour as the sofa or a contrasting colour.
Moroso also offers an edgier yet equally sophisticated version of Field in black leather with metal zips and visible stitching.
The upholstery may be removed for cleaning. The sofa's frame is covered with polyester padding which creates added thickness and softness for greater comfort.
Field is characterised by a very particular production technique, the result of the high-quality materials used for its manufacture and of the extreme, almost maniacal care taken over details - all these factors make Field a truly special sofa.
