Swing doors are the most common type. The hinges are mounted along one edge and the catch on the opposite side, midway up the door. This allows a one-panel model to be opened or closed with little effort. An interior swing door measures between 0.7 and 1.2 meters wide. For wider doorways, two-panel doors are used. One disadvantage is that the door occupies space while swinging or standing open.
