"I worked with Gabriele Salvatori on a surface treatment for marble, to increase and extend the rough cut of pieces of stone. What we got was a series of stones cut like pieces of wood, transforming the precise, mechanical cut into a rough cut, creating an "engraved" effect on the surface of the marble. We revolutionized the technological element, turning it into a hand-crafted process, and the result was an even more raw surface, which might be (for example) laid tongue and groove, like parquet".
