Durisol precast noise barriers are made of a proprietary material consisting of specially grade wood particles bonded with cement. Durisol is highly sound absorptive, as well as being porous, rigid, non-combustible, thermally insulating and freeze-thaw resistant.
Durisol precast noise barriers are panel and post systems. The vertical posts are anchored to the ground using caissons, driven piles, poured footings or structures. Post spacing ranges from 3.65 m (Mitchell system) to 4.56 m (Richmond system) to up to 7.3 m (Ohio system). All panels span horizontally between the posts and rest directly on the footings.
Our standard systems are noise absorptive on both sides and can incorporate solid noise reflective or transparent elements.
We also produce combination noise barrier/retaining wall systems, in which the noise barrier and retaining wall panels are stacked on top of each other. These systems are useful in tight spaces and where there are grade differences between the two sides of a barrier.
Durisol precast noise barriers are available in a variety of architectural finishes and colours. Their attractive designs and field-proven durability offer decades of visual enjoyment from both sides of the wall.
