Occasionally, large furniture manufacturers such as IKEA are “inspired” by the designs of smaller manufacturers. For us it was the other way around: Gerry Kellermann was inspired by the BEKVÄM step stool when setting up his first/own studio, with the clear intention of doing it better. The result was the universal miracle AEKI (please read backwards): step stool, bedside table, side table and much more. So that the furniture can withstand greater loads (for example in its function as a step), it is: 1. constructed with a friction fit (the four legs do not meet the two horizontal plates at a right angle, but are angled - this ensures stability through static friction) , 2. glued and 3. additionally screwed (the blind holes with end-grain dowels are glued and sanded). The step stool is made in Bavaria - from Bavarian, PEFC-certified oak wood. Dimensions: height 48 cm, width 43 cm, depth 38 cm, upper step 18 cm Material: solid oak wood, oiled with linseed oil
This year our step stool AEKI turns 10 years old and we are celebrating this birthday with a “black edition”. The black version of the AEKI (please read backwards) underlines the sculptural quality of this universal wonder, which is a step stool, bedside table, side table and much more in one. To ensure that the AEKI can withstand large loads (up to 120 kg), it is:
friction-locked design (the four legs do not meet the two horizontal plates at a right angle, but are angled - this ensures stability through static friction),
glued and
additionally screwed (the blind holes with end-grain dowels are glued and sanded).
