Originally in gilded solid wood and dated 1805, the piece was conceived for the Beauharnais Hotel in Paris. Reminiscent of Louis XIV style, the sumptuous decoration of winged swans on each armrest remind Jacob DESMALTER's work (1770-1841) after a drawing by the architects Percier & Fontaine. The Empress Joséphine had the same ornaments decorating her bed at Malmaison Castle. The model is here covered with a magnificent blue and gold murat lampas.Dimensions :
