The basis of the renovation concept was to get a private investor to renovate the exiting outdoor pool Süd and let him service, manage and operate the facility for 25 years. The town council of Trier was to get back a perfectly functioning outdoor pool on expiry of the contract. After a complete general renovation, the Trier Freibad Süd was re-opened in May 2010 and offers variety and relaxation.
