Description

From Greek, Hidria, vase for water. Ancient tradition, first container created by the human being for keeping water. Terracotta container with large base to let ground and clay of water settle on the bottom, and with narrow neck to blend purified water on the surface at source temperature. From popular tradition, the terracotta jug, essential and precious object in every family, is the protagonist of many thanksgiving feasts linked to harvest and earth. In Sicily, it is also a music instrument, used to create sweet sounds as thanks to the gift of water.
