Dinesen oil provides a strong surface and a good protection against impoverishment in case of a low humidity. An oil finish is recommended for offices and floors exposed to intensive use.
Please note that walking traces may appear on oil finished floors as the layer of oil is worn down. Therefore, you need to add maintenance oil when required. The application of maintenance oil must be done in accordance to the use of the room, as the oil needs to dry.
Floor oils are available in white and natural, and the end results differ widely from each other. If the floor has been given lye, finishing with white oil will be more or less similar to the white soap finish.
Dinesen Douglas can be finished with natural oil without a first coat of lye. Natural oil brings out the natural red colour of the wood, and in time, the planks will appear reddish to red-brownish depending on the chosen oil.
The floor should be cleaned by washing it with white soap or natural soap.
