Concrete spiral staircase with wooden steps

The spiral concrete staircases are made up of prefabricated steps, overlaid and stabilised on site with metal reinforcing and a cement sealer. They are produced by EDILCO s.r.l. of Verona and are widely used in civil construction. They are produced in diameters from 120 to 300 centimetres according to requirements; their vertical dimensions being designed to meet the most typical floor-ceiling heights. Each step is internally reinforced and continuous bars are inserted during installation to connect the individual steps and the whole staircase to the upper and lower floors.
The joint between the steps is sealed with a special cement mortar, designed to render monolithic and collaborative the various elements composing the structure. Every type of staircase has been designed to conform with current regulations regarding reinforced concrete structures: every element is prefabricated and assembled in accordance with the highest standards of workmanship and subject to systematic inspection. All documentation covering the above stages is filed with the Ministry of Public Works, so every order comes with its relative certificate of origin.
The staircase is normally specified to meet the load bearing requirements of current regulations; i.e., 400 kgf/m2, but can easily be constructed to meet different requirements. Its use in buildings designed to comply with anti-seismic regulations does not present any particular problems, only the usual adjustments required in such cases, from a simple increase in the main reinforcing to more complex systems of mechanical connection between the steps and the building, according to the seismic intensity of the area.
