The name derives from the well-known oriental game played with wooden or ivory sticks. These were held in a bunch, allowed to fall randomly in a pile, then the sticks
were removed one at a time. Mikado refers to this set of thin strips of natural wood which, carefully assembled and glued, create interesting wooden modules.
Famous architects such as Alvar Aalto and Adolf Loos used and preferred very strong laminated wood to avoid monotony and bring life to elegant surfaces, giving a
perfect refined finish to both large and small rooms.
