The Smotec model represents the culmination of development work on both the FGL and FLW louvred window units. This is a fully certified natural smoke & heat exhaust ventilator (NSHEV), having been tested to all relevant categories under EN 12101-2: 2003.
As a CE marked product, it meets the legislative requirements of Approved Document B (UK Building Regulations) to provide façade smoke venting to stairwells, lobbies and corridors in order to assist escape.
Our production quality control, under which every ventilator has an operational check prior to despatch, ensures that each consignment is fit for purpose.
A key advantage of the Smotec is the large open free area it provides, which, of course, is critical for emergency smoke control. As a result of its carefully engineered design, and thorough development testing, the Fieger Smotec achieves a high coefficient of opening (Cv). The Cv ranges from 0.57 to 0.61, depending upon overall dimensions and aspect ratio.
It comprises thermally-broken framework, which houses our patented rack & pinion mechanism. This drives the louvres to ensure synchronised, maintenance-free operation.
The glass louvres are housed in thermally-broken extruded aluminium frames and incorporate pivot bearings to connect to the rack & pinion mechanism.
