The name Shaker comes from a fundamentalist community established in 1774 near New York. For its craftsmen, committed to the ideals of brotherhood, creating a piece of furniture represented fulfilling a community need. In 1986, Grange launched the Shaker collection ; this year sees bedroom, bathroom and - a real innovation - kitchen furniture reinterpreted in beech and cherry wood. Blue, red, emerald green, grey... sixteen colours are available in a collection whose extreme simplicity of line follows the strong art deco trend focusing on purity of style. Shaker is considered a precursor of minimalist design.
