Girders are linear structural elements that mainly work in bending, usually supported on cantilevers or tops of pillars. These elements are much longer than they are wide or deep and their main function is to support flooring elements, such as hollow slabs.
The girders can be made from reinforced or prestressed concrete, metal, or both.
