TABRIZ: IRAN 61734 ICE

Tabriz
The Persian Tabriz comes from the city with the same name, situated in the north west of Iran. Tabriz is the capital of Iran‘s highest populated province Azerbeidjan, laying next to Turkey and the country Azerbeidjan. The main language in Tabriz is not Farsi, but Turkish. As to the revival of the world wide trading in rugs, Tabriz takes an important place in the history of the Persian hand knotted rug. At the end of the nineteenth century, this province first made contact with the Europeans, who were extremely interested in rugs as a trade product for Europe. At this time many knot ateliers were founded to be able to meet the western demand.
