The structure of the museum construction picks up the different trends of the adjacent buildings. When changing the view the stainless steel skin gives the building a constantly changing appearance. At the same time it filters and channels the daylight depending on the requirements and alignment of the individual gallery rooms. The concept of the building envelope envisages a folded stainless steel skin which shall provide insights and light flow into as well as out of the building. In every direction the folded skin is interrupted by steel-glass façades. In principle, the mullions have been inclined and rotated relative to the glazing units. This represents a special challenge to the blocking of the glazing units as the horizontal glass joint is not supported by a transom. The mullions have been clad with stainless steel.
