Description

COLOUR: Original QUALITY: 200 knot / inch ORIGIN: Hand-knotted rug produced in Nepal A rich and complex interpretation of an original painting by St Ives based abstract Artist Arthur Lanyon, Blue Fin has been made in a 200 knot quality, using a total of 39 colours. Inspired by a childhood painting which was made in response to an encountering a pod of killer whales on the south coast of Cornwall. "They moved so fast, and mainly beneath the surface. I think I saw them but I really can't be sure. The vagueness of that memory though was something my imagination ran with. I recall clearly the simplicity of the painting, I used household paint from big tins, covering vast sheets of beige paper. A hundred images of whales crowded in my head, then the creatures morphed onto the page like a pack of monsters". Strictly limited to a total of 15 pieces, this exquisite carpet is a true masterpiece of design, the definition of ‘Your Floor Is The Canvas’.
