concrete solar shading / for facades / vertical
The Clichy municipal swimming pool was built in 1968 and required extensive renovations. ENIA Architects proposed the installation of external brise soleil in order to reduce impact from the sun as well as regulate the pool temperature.
The new double skin is made up of a grid of horizontal and vertical blades of Ductal®, forming rectangular M-shaped modules (L. 2.50 x H. 1 m) fixed to the existing metal structure. The result is both a technical and aesthetic renovation for the aging façade.
In addition to Ductal®'s specific technical properties that enabled construction of a long-lasting facade with thin and slender brise soleil, the architects were attracted by the extremely white color. This accentuates the lightweight impression of the grid, producing an interesting contrast against the dark background of the facade.
