DESIGN INSPIRATION
An ‘obi’ is a broad sash worn round the waist of a Japanese kimono. It is also the name of a group of islands in the Indonesian province of North Maluku. Dutch designer Roderick Vos has a love of all things Asian. His series of ‘Obi’ tables was in fact inspired by the shape of Balinese offering plates. Upscaling their size and simplifying the traditional silhouette led to what quickly became an iconic table.

Solid wood: Wood is a natural product, which may scratch, shrink and expand. Keep this to a minimum by using coasters, by not putting wooden furniture too close to a heat source, and by keeping your home at a 50-60% humidity level. Oil-treated woods benefit from regular nourishment. Varnished or painted woods can simply be wiped down with a damp cloth.
