Mitsubishi Electric%u2019s advanced technology is driving a new age in elevator miniaturization. The newest models are not only more sophisticated than ever, they offer greater space savings. The traction machine, control panel and other key equipment can be adapted to suit required speed and capacity for any building use or design. %u2022 Compact Traction Machine %u2022 Compact Control Panel %u2022 Miniaturized Equipment Compact Traction Machine Mitsubishi Electric was first to replace induction motors with highly efficient permanent magnet (PM) motors for high-speed and super high-speed elevators, fully developed in-house. Since PM technology is uniquely suited to miniaturization, permitting the development of a more compact gearless traction machine for high-speed elevators that boast a 2.0 to 4.0 meters per second (6.6 %u2013 13.1 ft./sec.) speed at a capacity up to 1600 kilograms (3,527 lbs.). Slim and efficient, the PM motor is a demonstration of Mitsubishi Electric proprietary stator core technology that results in a compact traction machine that%u2019s about 30% smaller in axial dimension than previous models. Compact Control Panel The control panel that drives the PM motor incorporates the most advanced, low-loss IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) as well as optimal design. The result is a control panel less than half the size of previous models.
