Description

Antique Dalle de Bourgogne French Limestone...the name itself seems regal. Dalle in French means a slab of stone - words that are in fact, humble. However, we are talking France...and it seems the French have the ability to turn humble into regal as witnessed by the magnificence of their Châteaux - specifically throughout Bourgogne. The Château de Châteauneuf is one of these edifices that has forever made French Limestone famous . Built in 1132, the quarried stone, an incredibly hard material, had to be split by hand rather than sawing it into dalle - with textures finished by hand. Protected as an historical monument today, this Château that endured from the One Hunderd Years War to the French Revolution, remains glorious. The Antique Dalle de Bougogne French Limestone is glorious - from it's soft color palette of straw, cream, beige and gray to it's historical patina from centuries of use, one understands now why this humble dalle is in fact, so regal. Antique Dalle de Bourgogne French Limestone is reclaimed from dilapidated Château and Farmhouse throughout Bourgogne, France, dating from the 18th century. First cut is the most valued, for it has it's original 18th Century Patina.
