MANIVA
PIETRAELITE-ELISDEVID
The Maniva, from which this stone takes its name, is a ridge about 1860 m above sea level in the province of Brescia. The morphology of the mountainside is generally uneven with alternating gentle and steep downward slopes, with outcrops and morainic debris, molded over millenniums by wind and ice. It requires a longer application time than the others yet looks strikingly similar to the original stone. The surface, with its clearly defined facets, creates tricks of light and shade that are well suited to contemporary projects such as conservation work on old buildings.
