Dominique Perrault and Gaelle Lauriot-Prevost imagine a new seating concept for a novel, domestic landscape. A subtle interlacing leather mesh envelops a cushion ensemble, producing a fluid structure that lives and breathes to the rhythm of bodily movements. Mutable superficial effects are created by the contrast between the broad and light braiding of the net and the solid and full form of the cushions. Iricot is an informal, flexible and completely innovative seating system comprising three soft, differently sized cushions. The largest provides the seating area, the smallest the armrest, whilst the third adds a comfortable backrest The cushions are enclosed within a leather mesh created from strips of Saddle T hide in colour Sessantotto (sixty-eight). These are cut in waves and assembled with beautifully aged brass eyelets. The support structure is made from solid seasoned beech and poplar. Birch plywood cushion base. Elastic belts provide the seat springs, whilst padding is in polyurethane foam and polyester wadding. The backrest is made from down and staples of polyester, with a polyurethane foam insert.
